An ecogame of climate action and democratic imagination by Blue Pulsar kolektiv. Lithium is a game about environmental activism, democratic action and the power of collective action in the face of environmental and social challenges.

Investigating lithium mining in Czech Cínovec within the global context of energy transformation is the central theme of the ecogame Lithium, developed by the interdisciplinary Blue Pulsar kolektiv for the exhibition Symptoms of the Future at the Hraničář Gallery (14 September 2024 - 16 February 2025). The game will be released for the first time on Friday, 28 March 2025, via Steam in Czech and English.Lithium focuses on the possibilities of mobilizing local communities to defend their landscapes from lithium mining. It builds on an original game mechanic that works by decentralizing the player's agency in the game world. The game mechanics motivate players to build a coalition with the local population to innovate democratic decision-making from below. The game also includes interviews with local actors and experts on the environmental impacts of lithium mining. As part of the Symptoms of the Future exhibition, the game asks whether lithium mining is a solution to the climate crisis.Information about Lithium.
